The 2013 Mercedes Benz sls Amg E-Cell is designed to be a modern renaissance of Gorden Wagener 300SL Gullwing. The car has a long hood, the passenger is in the vicinity of the rear axle and the rear of the car shortly. SLS also has the function adapted to open doors to move gas cylinders, and not a mixture of upward and forward like the SLR. The doors must be closed manually as 2013 Mercedes Benz sls Amg E-Cell engineers decided against locking systems because the systems have added 90 pounds to the car. In the event of a rollover, the doors can be completely separated, thus leaving the occupants of the vehicle.

The SLS AMG E-Cell is expected for 2013 model year and all electrical components of the propulsion system used. It will be combined with four electric motors with an output of 392 kW and 880 Nm, rated 400 V-cooled lithium-ion battery 48 kWh and a capacity of 40 Ah. With this action, the 2013 Mercedes Benz sls Amg E-Cell accelerates from zero to 60MP in 4 seconds. The battery is the German Accumotive GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between Daimler AG and Evonik Industries AG provided. 2013 Mercedes Benz sls Amg E-Cell plans to sell the vehicle, in principle in late 2012.
