The 2014 Nissan Xterra engine moves since last year, a 261-hp, 4.0-liter V-6 making 281 pounds-feet of torque. Combined with a five-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive, the Xterra will return 16/22 mpg city/highway. With four-wheel drive, the Xterra can be had with a six-speed manual transmission or five-speed automatic transmission. With four-wheel drive and a manual transmission, the Xterra will return 16/20 mpg city/highway, or just a little less with the five-speed automatic. The Pro-4X high-end model adds useful features off-road as off-road Bilstein shocks, electronic locking rear differential, gearbox and two-speed transfer.
