2018 Acura TLX Type S is a mid-size luxury sedan from Acura, the luxury division of Honda, since 2014. 2018 Acura TLX Type S was initially shown as “TLX Prototype”, designed sedan Acura Design Studio in Los Angeles, as a replacement for Acura TL and Acura TSX sedans. Acura TLX Type S production model was presented in April at the 2014 New York International Auto Show.

All 2018 Acura TLX models configured with V6 engine will lose nearly 150 pounds compared to the FWD TL and over 225 pounds compared to the SH-AWD TL. 2018 Acura TLX SH-AWD is no longer available with high-performance summer tires, and less sticky tires for all seasons.
Like the Acura RLX and Acura MDX, 2018 Acura TLX Type S come as standard with LED headlights, and Amber LED turn signal indicators included in the rear-view mirrors and rear LED taillights. Total length over the previous TL is reduced by 3.8 inches, while the wheelbase retains the same length. As with the ninth-generation Accord to the TLX loses front double wishbone suspension TSX and TL replacing it with MacPherson arrangement. In order to significantly reduce noise in the interior, triple door seals are used as additional sound insulation.
2018 Acura TLX Type S Engine
2018 TLX Type Scome with two options available are power-train. 2.4-liter four-cylinder DOHC i-VTEC engine is available with direct injection mated to a dual-clutch and Motion-Adaptive Electronic Power, Precision All Wheel (P-AWS) through the Integrated System Dynamics. Honda designed dual-clutch transmission is the first that uses torque converter, it is working to absorb the transmission gear shift shock reduction NVH. The engine is rated at 206 hp with EPA-estimated fuel economy of 24/35/28 mpg (city / highway / combined) compared to 22/31/26 from the previous TSX. Honda estimates that 1.5 seconds faster from 0 to 60 miles per hour, 4-cylinder TLX will start at $ 31,890 or $360 more than the pension TSX. And 4-cylinder TLX and 4-cylinder automatic TSX weigh the same.
A 3.5-liter direct-injected SOHC VTEC V-6 with cylinder deactivation (VCM) is paired with Honda’s first use 9-speed automatic transmission, it is available with either P-AWS or drive all wheel drive (SH-AWD). Acura SH-AWD system uses hydraulic clutches instead of a package of electromagnetic clutch found on the previous TL, which significantly reduces the weight, size and cost. The engine is rated at 290 hp and front-wheel drive models deliver 21/34/25 mpg while four-point models are rated at 21/31/25 mpg. Acura TLX V6 will start at $36,115, or $810 less than the outgoing Acura TL SH-AWD models will come standard with a “technology package” costs $1,860 less than the previous Acura TL SH-AWD equipped “technology package”.
