The 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio (Type 949) is an SUV model of the Italian automobile manufacturer Alfa Romeo in the market segment of the Sport Utility Vehicles, which has been sold since January 2017. In 2003, Alfa Romeo introduced the Kamal as a standard concept car for an SUV at the Geneva Motor Show on the basis of the 159 and the Brera but did not pursue the development any further.
The German engineer and Alfa Romeo boss Harald J. Wester published a concept paper of the Alfa Romeo brand in May 2014, in which he showed a planned model offensive for the following years. Alfa Romeo Stelvio included two SUVs, like the Alfa Romeo Giulia, the Stelvio is based on the Giorgio platform. The car is being built at the Cassino plant.

2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Marketing
Alfa Romeo introduced the Stelvio for the first time at the LA Auto Show on 16 November 2016. The name of the vehicle refers to the Stilfser Joch, the highest mountain pass in Italy. Since January 18, 2017, the 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio can be ordered in Germany, but initially, it is available only as a First Edition special model at prices starting at 56,000 euros.
Stelvio comes with the 206 kW (280 hp) 2-liter otto-motor, known from Alfa Romeo Giulia, with an 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel drive. In addition, the special model includes bi-xenon headlights, leather equipment, and a rear-view camera.
