The Honda NSX (available as an Acura NSX in North America and Hong Kong) is a hybrid-electric sports car that was originally produced by the Japanese automaker Honda from 1990 to 2005. It was a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout feature, powered by an all-aluminum V6 gasoline (petrol) engine with Honda’s Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system. A long-rumored second-generation Acura NSX debuted as a concept car in 2012, equipped with a four-wheel drive V6 hybrid drive and is in production by the year 2015.
Acura NSX History
In December 2007, American Honda CEO Tetsuo Iwamura, has confirmed a new supercar powered by a V10 engine would make its introduction to the market by 2010. The new sports car would be on the Acura ASCC (Advanced Sports Car Concept) based on the introduced 2007 North American International auto Show. In April 2011, reports Automotive News that Honda is developing a new sports car, a successor to the Acura NSX to be. He reported that Honda CEO Ito said the car be exhilarating to drive, but also environmentally friendly. It is expected to integrate the vehicle is an electric drive to the gasoline engine thrust. 2012 Acura NSX Concept
In December 2011, Acura announced that they would show the next generation Acura NSX in concept form at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. 9 January 2012 Acura unveiled the 2012 Acura NSX concept. The new concept retained the 2-door coupe, mid-engine, all-wheel drive with a formula. The weight is kept down by using a high-tech platform from lightweight materials. Power comes from a V6 (90Â° design actually comming from the 2015 F1 engine, the McLaren-Honda racing is derived) behind the two occupants, which sends its power to the rear wheels and is supplemented by an electric motor mounted.
Acura SH-AWD has an electric motor in a dual-clutch transmission, which form a hybrid setup. In addition, two other engines can instantly send negative or positive torque to the front wheels during cornering for improved handling and economy. Acura claims the new all-wheel-drive system will deliver super car acceleration and provides better efficiency. Acura did not disclose how much power its V6 engine and three electric motors produce, although it is expected that more than 500 horsepower to produce. It is the Ferrari 458 Italia, a rear-wheel drive supercar powered by a naturally aspirated 4.5-target-liter V8. The appearance of the concept is based on a modern version of “coke bottle” styling approach in the 1960s and 1970s popular.
2015 Acura NSX Production
The 2015 Acura NSX production is not expected to produce at least until 2015 and at the Marysville Auto Plant in Marysville, Ohio to be built. An advertisement for the vehicle began airing in early February 2012, Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno. Honda plans to develop a GTE racing version of the Acura NSX to run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2015 on. It is not known whether it is a factory effort or whether it will be executed as a customer program, but Honda expects to drive it in America, probably the American Le Mans Series.
