The Acura RLX is manufactured by Honda under its Acura division, published in 2013 for model year 2014 and sold in full-size luxury sedan. The successor to the Acura RLX the offers two versions, one with front-wheel drive base model with all-wheel steering Acura Precision (P-AWS) all-wheel steering and a hybrid version coming with SH-AWD, which serve as a flagship feature.
An October 2009 Car and Driver Blog cites a dinner with Acura executives who confirmed that the introduction of new, larger, and in some forms, the more powerful, fourth generation Acura TL is difficult, the then current market RL. On 4 April 2012 Acura RLX unveiled the concept, a replacement for the Acura RL sedan at the 2012 New York International Auto Show. The Acura RLX was unveiled at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show and went on sale on 15 March 2013. The production of RL ended at the Saitama facility on 16 June 2012, the plant conversion to the Acura RLX begin.
Acura RLX Interior
The standard 12-fold (4-way lumbar) front seats are heated, has improved rear seat space significantly. Rear legroom is similar to full size luxury flagship sedan (non-extended wheelbase). An 8-inch screen with a 7-inch touchscreen display are also standard.Â An optional 14-speaker flagship Krell Audio system replaces the previous model used in Acura RL Bose system. A mid-level 14-speaker ELS Studio Premium system with Panasonic components is also optional. The base premium ELS system uses 10 speakers. Hybrid models have an electronic gear selector lever Head-Up Display, use acoustic glass for all doors and the windshield, and the navigation is standard. The 14-speaker ELS Studio Premium and Standard Krell system optional.
Acura RLX Exterior
The standard jewel-eye each use LED headlights 5 separate LED light sources (4 low beam, high beam 1) with 10 polished lenses (8 2 low beam high beam). The headlights swivel not not offered through corners with fog lights. The hood, front fenders and outer door panels are made of aluminum, aluminum use in the RLX saves a total of 79.1 pounds compared to steel components. The Hybrid comes standard with LED fog lights.
Acura RLX Sport Hybrid
The Acura RLX Sport Hybrid was upon the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show debut. Total weight of the vehicle is to 357 pounds, with weight distribution (front: rear) from 61:39 to non-hybrids 57:43 improved in hybrid models. It is as the Honda Legend offered in Japan.
Acura RLX Powertrain
A direct injected 3.5-liter “Earth Dreams” V6 with VTEC and cylinder deactivation (VCM) in conjunction with an automatic 6-speed obtain an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20/31/24 mpg (city / highway / combined) and the maximum output is 310 hp. The fuel savings VCM system operates in either 3 or 6 cylinder configurations, the new model uses sophisticated engine mounts, which obviates the need for a 4-cylinder mode, which would result in a lower NVH.
Acura RLX Hybrid models have the ability and VCM, with an additional start-stop system to increase the fuel consumption. The hybrid also uses a 7-speed dual clutch transmission with an integrated 35 kW (47 hp) electric motor is powered by a 27 kW (36 hp) electric motor of each rear wheel. This structure gives the hybrid a torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system with rear wheels strictly electrically.Â A 72-cell 1.3 kWh Â£ 66 lithium-ion battery is placed behind the rear seat. Overall performance as 377 horsepower and 377 pounds-ft of torque rated. EPA estimated fuel economy improved at 28/32/30 mpg. It is given a CARB emissions rating of LEV III SULEV30 compared to the non-hbrids ULEV-2 ranking.
Acura RLX Chassis
The front subframe in aluminum. Front suspension uses a double wishbone layout, while the back is a multi-link with a precision-All Wheel Steer (P-AWS) system. ZF Sachs (IF) provides the shocks, 18-inch wheels are standard, 19-inch wheels with a noise harmonious design feature is optional, a feature similar to the previous facelift 2011 Acura RL used. Suspension tuning is focused on the sporty side of comfort.
Acura RLX Safety
All Acura RLX models are equipped with a forward collison warning system and lane departure warning. An automatic braking before pre-crash system with electronic front belt tensioner is available as a lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.
