The 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 is available in four trim levels: base, SLE, SLT, and Denali. They are available in different cabin and bed configurations. The base 2018 Sierra 1500 is relatively tiny, although some options are available. It’s recommended that buyers look at the SLE cut-off at a minimum because they have features beyond what you would find in a work-only truck. The 2018 GMC Sierra 2018 models offer the best balance between amenities and functionality is the SLT cut-off, while luxury Denali’s luxury will appeal to buyers who want it all.
2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Convenience package adds a remote keyless access, a tailgate, heated mirrors, a 110-volt plug and an LED cabinet lighting. The high-end report includes those items, plus special 20-inch black alloy wheels, LED malfunctions, body color outside and OnStar communication (with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi hotspot). The SLE trim level adds 17-inch alloy wheels, a damping tailgate, a leather-equipped steering wheel and an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen. GMC provides an Enhanced Driver Alert package for SLE and SLT. These include driver auxiliary functions such as a forward collision warning system with low-speed automatic emergency brake, as well as deviation of lane departure and warning.
Available on the SLT crew and double cabin are two different terrain-focused packages, the All Terrain and All Terrain X. The 2018 Sierra All-Terrain package adds a few features mentioned above, plus a few outside style changes, an outdoor suspension with Rancho shocks and an underlying shield. The All-Terrain X package is similar to the theme but does not have the off-road suspension. In addition, the 2018 GMC Denali, which features most of the features at lower trim levels and contains all the available driver assistance features. It adds exclusive adaptive suspension dampers, 20-inch wheels and unique interior appointments.
2018 GMC Sierra Interior
Inside, switches are large and easy to use, access is good, and there is enough space. Some options were more annoying than useful, and the inexplicable deviation from the center of the steering wheel is a disturbing annoyance. Most controls are readily at hand; The exceptions are the extraordinarily small power rear window and the grid switches on the front-mounted console. Screens and menus are clear and easy to navigate.
Twelve-way seats, adjustable pedals and a tilting and telescoping steering wheel make it easy to get, but the outside steering column destroys the driving position. You also lean against the door to center the wheel in your chest or accept the lightly unfair deviation. As with any full-size crew truck, there is enough space for both front and rear passengers. The front, hip and shoulders are generous, and rear seat passengers will not get space to complain about space.
Other options for the SLT include front and rear sensors, a power-reversing rear window, a heated steering wheel, full LED headlights, a spray bed, navigation, a sunroof and a seven-speaker Bose sound system come as standard for 2018 GMC Sierra 1500. All in all, the Sierra has good visibility. Even with the big square hood, the only line-of-sight restrictions come from the large base of the front roof piles and the too small outside mirrors. The backup camera is clear and has a good vision.
2018 GMC Sierra 1500 Technology Features
The 2018 GMC Sierra Denali is full of modern technology. From the easy-to-use and fast-acting 8-inch touchscreen to the comprehensive security suite to the Wi-Fi hotspot, this Sierra is a truck for modern times. The 8-inch touchscreen display provides clear and quick access to most features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, but the GMC’s native system does not want much, except perhaps better navigation graphics. The evil sound system is hard enough but could provide a little more clarity.
Whether connected to Bluetooth Auto or Apple CarPlay via Bluetooth or Link, is to connect a device straight. Once a Wi-Fi connection is established, the truck is automatically connected at the start of the device. The Sierra is lacking a lot. There is a forward collision warning system, a driver’s seat that vibrates for multiple warnings, low-speed automatic brake, shelter assistance and automatic high-beam control. The stability control system has been strengthened with rollover mitigation technology. The GMC’s voting controls may be frustrating from time to time, and with so many controls as close to hand it’s almost unnecessary. Of course, both Apple and Android options are available and you have better voice recognition.
