The Acura ZDX was developed by Honda for its upscale Acura brand mid-size luxury crossover. The car was originally planned to be called Acura MSX. The Acura ZDX debuted at the 2009 New York International Auto Show on April 8, 2009. The vehicle was also the first to be designed entirely in Southern California Acura Design Studio in Torrance. The original Acura ZDX concept was penned labeled by Michelle Christensen, who says it a “4-door luxury sports coupe”, and the Acura “blurs the distinction between coupe, sedan and SUV.”
The car is said to be a “new level of prestige for Acura.” It features Acura first six-speed automatic transmission, advanced ventilated seats, as well as other luxury appointments. Although the Acura ZDX share a similar profile with the Honda Crosstour, the two vehicles not mechanically linked: the latter is based on the Honda Accord, while the Acura ZDX is based on the Honda Pilot / Acura MDX. Honda announced in a press release dated 10 October 2012, in 2013 would mark “the last year on the market for the brand Acura ZDX as sharpens the focus on new models and core products.”
Acura ZDX Concept Version
Five teaser shots, published by Acura between March 16 and 20, 2009 showed a coupe-like roofline that of the BMW X6, which many observers to believe that there is a direct competitor. After the announcement of the designation of the vehicle Acura ZDX, Acura added the words “luxury four-door sports coupe”, the caption for each image. Moreover, it has not, the vehicle or as a crossover SUV.
Acura ZDX Production Version
The announced version includes the 3664 cc (3.664 L; 223.6 cu in) SOHC VTEC V6 all-aluminum diesel engine with 300 hp (220 kW) at 6,300 rpm and 270 pounds · ft (366 Nm) at 4500 rpm, 6-speed automatic, super handling All-Wheel drive (SH-AWD), 19-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof with moveable sunshades, hand-stitched leather, hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, power tailgate and a high-performance audio system with CD player, AM / FM / XM Satellite Radio and USB audio interface with iPod integration. The conversion was in the winter of 2009.
Technology package adds the navigation system with voice recognition, an Acura / ELS Surround premium audio system and a new multi-view rear camera. Advance package adds blind spot monitoring system, collision mitigation braking system (CMBS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy estimates for all models are 16 mpg-US (15 L / 100 km, 19 mpg IMP) in the city, 22 mpg-US (11 L / 100 km, 26 mpg-imp) on the highway and 19 mpg-US (12 L / 100 km, 23 mpg-imp) combined.
